Working on behalf of Louth County Council and together with O’Connor Sutton Cronin, The Bates Partnership undertook the design, tender and supervision of maintenance dredging at the Annagassan Harbour, Ireland.
The harbour comprises an approach channel, quay walls, vessel berths, slipway and breakwater. The build-up of silt and sediment over time has restricted access to the port and reduced the mooring capacity of the harbour by up to 80%.
This project aims to open both the access channel and the entirety of the mooring to a reduced depth of 1.9m above Chart Datum resulting in the removal of approximately 9,000 cubic meters, to be confirmed by a bathymetric survey, of material to a licensed disposal facility.
It was great to be involved with O’Connor Sutton Cronin and Louth County Council for this minor dredging project at Annagassan Harbour to restore safe access and berthing for the local fishermen.
