Paul is a seasoned dredging and consulting professional with over 30 years of specialised experience in the ports and dredging industry. Currently a consultant at Anthony D Bates Partnership LLP, Paul specializes in providing expert guidance on dredging operations and projects.
After achieving a BEng (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering Paul went on to complete a post graduate diploma in Water Engineering before beginning his professional career in 1994 joining Associated British Ports (ABP) as Dredging & Hydrographic Survey Technician where he built his foundation industry knowledge. In 1997 Paul was part of the team that successfully established UK Dredging (UKD), ABP’s in house dredging division. Paul career continued with UKD as the business successfully developed as a commercial dredging contractor and he progressed through several operational, technical and commercial roles including Superintendent, Projects Manager, Technical Support Manager/Estimator, advancing to Operations Manager in 2002. This provided him with wide experience in all aspects of dredging works as both contractor and client as well as ship operation and business management in the UK and overseas. In 2016 Paul was appointed UKD’s General Manager successfully providing leadership and accountable for overseeing all aspects of the business unit responsible for providing more than half of the UK’s maintenance dredging capacity as well as supporting ABP’s capital dredging investment schemes.
After taking a brief career break in 2022 to pursue personal goals, Paul re-entered the consulting field, leveraging his extensive industry expertise to support clients in achieving their dredging objectives.
